6 things I invested in for my business (each on sale this week)

Hi Reader,

Black Friday is a tricky time - and often there's SO much noise out in the world about alllll the things we should be buying.

At the same time, it's honestly a really good time to invest in some things for your business and save a lot of money. So if you've been thinking about getting any services or software for 2025, the next few days are probably the time to make a decision on those.

Here are 6 things I've invested in this year or the last few years that I feel great about for my own business:

  • My "cart" system: When I first started in business I remember having to ask people ahead of me super basic questions like, "But how do people actually buy stuff from me, like how do they give me their money?"🀣 I had no idea how this all worked. I also didn't know where to "house" things like the online courses I wanted to build. The clear answer came that the consensus was that Thrivecart is a really good tool for this. It's a lifetime payment instead of a monthly subscription, which I really like. It's also how I run my affiliate program. It only goes on sale once a year at Black Friday (it's $100 off at this link), so if you need a good way to sell digital products, live workshops, online courses, etc. this is probably for you.

  • Lifetime membership in FLOWN: I decided to go with their lifetime membership after trying this co-working/productivity tool for the last few weeks. It works really well for my brain. If you haven't tried, it's probably not the time to go for the lifetime model, but the free 30-day trial is a great idea to see if it's as helpful for you as it is for me. My full blog post about it is here. If you join, you will almost certainly see me in some sessions - say hi in the chat!

  • Lifetime access to Email Marketing Membership: I've been a member of Liz Wilcox's Email Marketing Membership for two years, and it's been the best $9 a month to spend. I am clear enough that the value is worth it to me, so I upgraded to lifetime on this, too. If you haven't tried it, check out the $9 a month option (or do what I did and get the annual membership for some extra bonuses, which is same cost but paying for a year up front) and see if it's for you (basically she gives you sample emails to send to your email list - and they're SO good). She also does projects that give me accountability like list-building challenges, and live trainings. Super helpful stuff. Or just get her free set of email welcome sequence templates, subject lines, etc here.

  • Social scheduler: I upgraded this software last Black Friday and no regrets. I'd pay lifetime on this one if they had that option (they don't). SmarterQueue, the best social scheduler ever for repurposing my content - video, text, images, all of it - into all the social media spaces with so little effort from me. Truly, I kinda wanna marry SmarterQueue (don't tell my husband Jon). They're doing 30% - 40% off for Black Friday depending on what you get. My full blog post about it is here. My link gets you a double-length extended trial if you wanna try it first.

  • My email program: I was using MailChimp back in the olden days and a few years ago when I started Friday Five I knew it was time to move out of the dark ages and into the modern world (lol). I'm now using Kit (formerly ConvertKit) and I'm super happy with it. Their plans are 30% off for Black Friday.

  • Braden's Contract Club: I am a big fan of this resource - it's just $50 for a huge vault of contracts that you need in your business. It's how I've developed all of my legal stuff - website terms and conditions, privacy policy, refund policy, client contracts, and more. He also adds new contracts all the time. The thing is that after Black Friday, he's raising the price to $200, so it's a great time to get this if you can use it.

Happy to answer Qs on these things if you've got them! Just hit reply - it's really me over here answering your emails.

Jess
