Hi Reader,
The weather where I am has been so hot this week - as someone who adores the chill of fall weather, I'm so ready for the time when it's comfortable again to take a midday walk without working up a sweat. I know some of you have storms coming in this weekend - I hope you stay safe! Let's get to your Friday Five:
My other Friday thing: Did you know I post my 9 favorite memes of the week on Instagram and Facebook every Friday? If not, go check them out - they're up now for this week. And you're always welcome to send memes my way that make you laugh - I love curating the best ones for future Friday Funnies!
Splitwise is great for splitting expenses: I've used the Splitwise app on multiple trips with friends where we shared expenses (someone paid for the Airbnb, another person bought groceries, someone else paid for tickets to an event, etc.). It clearly shows which group members were involved in a given expense, and at the end it gives you a simple way to settle up with each other in the fewest possible transactions. It'd also work well for ongoing shared expenses (like with roommates). It's a free app (there is a pro version, but I've never found it necessary) and it's so simple to use.
I’d love to help you lead your team training: I really loved working recently with a corporate team leader to help her plan her team's offsite. We worked together to figure out what mattered most for them to get done that day, and then we figured out which parts of the day made sense for me to design and lead as an external facilitator and which made sense for her to facilitate as the team leader. I then helped her design her sessions as well, so she wasn't starting from a blank page and could tweak a strong plan to make it even better for her specific team. If you want to work together to help lead team learning, reflection, or planning (or all 3), hit reply to let me know what you're thinking, or find out more here.
If you have a trip coming up: We all know how stressful travel can be, especially with the holidays coming up. If you’re looking for ways to make travel easier, I’ve got a new blog post just for you! My go-tos include free flight alerts from FlightAware and the BevLedge tray I bring on every flight.
Update your professional or family photos: I have a quarterly reminder to consider scheduling a Shoott photo session. The 30-min photo shoots with professional photographers are free, and you then pay only for the photos you want to keep. We've used them to capture family photos when folks are in town, on trips with friends, for professional headshots, and also just for our immediate family. This is a great time of year to book one for holiday cards, or for when family's in town.
