Jessica's Friday Five: Google Drive security + naan pizza

Hi Reader,

Our water heater went out this week - a not-so-fun adventure of determining next steps (we decided to replace it with an electric version as a greener solution moving forward that also saves money in the long-run) and finding ways to keep ourselves and our kids clean. My husband used our sous vide to warm up water to clean the children yesterday, which prompted the 8-year-old to let us know "I prefer regular showers". Us too, buddy. Us too.

Here's your Friday Five!

  1. Show up for people struggling. I posted a blog this week with practical, actionable ideas on how to support people who are in a tough life moment - having lost a loved one or a job, caring for a newborn, or any other challenging time. It's got practical tips and even scripts for what to send via text message. Hit reply if you've got additional ideas I can add!
  2. 2 tips if you're in the US. Did you know that you can get an email with scanned images of the mail that you're going to be receiving today? It's called Informed Delivery and it's a free service from USPS you can sign up for here. Second, if you're a dad or know a dad? Send them to Dads for All, a newly-launched positive, powerful force to support things that make communities stronger.
  3. What we're doing for dinner. We loved Home Chef for years and still get their meal kits at times because the food is delicious and I enjoy cooking (I tend to pick the meals that take under 20 minutes). But these days? Our weekly go-to is Cook Unity. It's delicious, our kids like the meals, and it takes about 5 minutes to get dinner on the table. We have been getting it for 2 nights a week (for us, that means 3 meals for each of those nights which easily feeds 2 adults and 2 kids). If you want to try one of them, use my links to get a good deal (for Home Chef, this link gets you 15 Free meals across 5 orders + free shipping on your 1st box + free dessert for life, and for Cook Unity, this link gets you $50 off). For Cook Unity, we recently loved the grilled naan pizza, the korma curry, the enchiladas, and the beef burritos.
  4. Girl Scout Cookies. Girl Scout cookie season ends soon, so here are the links again that we crowdsourced from Friday Five readers' children. Go get yourself some cookies, or send some boxes as a surprise to someone struggling or who has an upcoming birthday. https://bit.ly/2025Cookies
  5. Everyone who uses Google Drive should get this (and I got us a coupon). My brilliant internet buddy Dara made this new tool (G-Drive Avenger) that's SO SMART (and when I mentioned I was planning to share it in Friday Five, she gave me a coupon code for us to give all of you 10 bucks off!). You don’t own all the files you think you do in your Google Drive. Seriously. I learned how terrible this can be a year ago when I transitioned a contractor I was working with, and all the work he did for me got deleted...😱). You can also easily see if folks who shouldn't have access to your files still do, or if things are set to "public" that shouldn't be. Then, the tool helps you fix anything that needs correcting really quickly. I paid full price for this, and it was worth every penny, so to me, it seems like a no-brainer with our coupon (which is JESSICA10). Also, as a fun little bonus, I set up an automation to automatically gift you my popular course on polishing-up-your-work-systems (usually $27) for free if you get G-Drive Avenger through this link. The coupon works for the next week or so, so don't wait. Enjoy!
