Jessica's Friday Five: I've been taking creatine

Hi Reader,

Recently, I've been unsubscribing from emails like it's my job. And every time I do, I think about how grateful I am that you all are still here. You could unsubscribe at any time, and frankly, if this email isn't serving you, you should! I like an essentialized inbox even if it means my emails aren't in it! But you have stuck around, helped grow this little business, and I am just so grateful. Truly. Thanks for being here. And hello to the 250+ new Friday Fivers who have joined this little email community in the last month. Hope you love it here as much as I do.

Let's get to your Friday Five!

  1. Let that stuff go. I don't know about you, but I can absolutely get stuck reliving painful situations. The time when someone really let you down. The time you messed up badly. An uncomfortable open loop that you wish you could close and move on from. My friend Lia, whom I got to see unexpectedly (and delightfully) last month when we both happened to be boarding an international flight home to the Bay Area, wrote this piece about a specific process for releasing all that stuck energy. It's brilliant.
  2. I've been taking creatine. As I've mentioned before, I have been enjoying doing pilates (the reformer machine kind) since last summer. To help continue to build strength (important in mid-life!), I decided to try creatine because my research into the topic showed that it would help. I've loved Beam's Sleep Hot Chocolate for years, so I decided to give their creatine gummies a try. I really like them - helpful for an energy boost, too. I asked them for a code that would give you a bigger discount than just my refer-a-friend link, and they said yes. If you wanna try any of their products, use code FRIDAYFIVE for up to $40 off. Let me know if you try them.

  3. If you've got toddlers, preschoolers, or early-elementary kiddos in your life, I wish I'd done this with my kids when they were younger. I'm considering seeing if it'll work even at their tween and preteen ages. If you've got younger kids, check it out. You might also need these ideas if you have kids in that age range.
  4. Photo tips: I had no idea about most of these tips for taking better pictures with your phone. So useful! I set a reminder for myself to remember that 4th tip during the holiday season later this year.
  5. Make any website an "app" on your phone. This tip is from Friday Fiver Eve (thanks!). Eve wrote me, "You can make any website an app on iPhone. I use it on my phone like I would a 'bookmark' on my desktop browser, so I don’t have to dig through emails to get login info for things I come back to more than once. Here's how. If you've got tips you think would help folks out around here, send them my way (just hit reply, I'm a real human who'll get your email and reply!).
