Jessica's Friday Five: Readers found $1000+ in unclaimed money (plus 4 more wins)

Hi Reader,
I'm writing this a week ahead of my normal schedule because, as you're reading this, I'm hopefully enjoying myself on a cruise in Alaska with my family and some dear college friends. There are hundreds of new subscribers here in the last few weeks - welcome! Each Friday, I share five tips to make life easier at work and home.
Check for unclaimed property: If you've been around for a bit on my list, you've heard this tip but it's time to share it again after I recently heard from two of you. Kathleen said, "I have a check coming from DC in the next few weeks after claiming my senior year of college residence’s first month’s rent… 25 years later… THANK YOU." And Taryn shared, "I love the articles you send out - the one where you sent a link for how to find unclaimed money led my husband and I to claim over $1000 in funds we didn't know we had! And I sent it to our whole family, who also had unclaimed funds. Wins all around!" You can Google for your state/municipality unclaimed property site or just use https://missingmoney.com/ if you're based in the US like me. Also, search for any deceased family members because death is a common reason money goes unclaimed, and your loved ones would want you to be able to find and use those resources.
Joyfully Managed Worklife: I quietly opened the doors to Joyfully Managed Worklife before I left town and notified those of you on the waitlist. Here's a heads up to everyone else that you can now get into the 4th cohort of my popular program that helps make your work life easier - it's revamped based on what has been most helpful and needed by dozens of alumni, and I reduced the price to make it even more accessible. Hit reply if you've got any questions, ok?
Cell phone contract: As our oldest heads to middle school, we have decided (after extensive discussion, hand-wringing, and back-and-forth waffling) to get her a cell phone. We try to be pretty intentional parents, which means we're deliberately relaxed about some things that don't feel that important and try to pick our "battles" wisely. Getting screen time and digital access right feels to me like one of the most important things to get right (the research is clear, and the reality can be terrifying, even for the most aware and supported kids). So, we settled on a Bark phone (not the cheapest option, but the most supportive one) and created a list of responsibilities for our kid that we expect her to follow regarding the phone. If that Google Doc "contract" would be helpful in your parenting, hit reply and I'll share the link; you're welcome to copy, modify, and use it if it's useful for your own family.
Bonus Sponsor Resource: The probiotics I'm loving. I've been trying Bioma probiotics for the last few months on the recommendation of a doctor friend, and it feels like it's making a difference with both energy and focus for me as well as just generally feeling like my gut is working well. Worth a try if you've been considering a probiotic! This resource is from one of our Friday Five sponsors - thank you to them for keeping this newsletter free for readers!
