Jessica's Friday Five: Warriors Game Magic + Men's Retreat Recommendation
Published 15 days ago • 2 min read
Hi Reader,
This week, we celebrated my youngest's 9th birthday - the highlight for him was the lucky coincidence that his basketball league had a trip to the Warriors vs. Spurs that night, and he got to be on the court before the game started. One of the Spurs players (Stephon Castle) even passed him a ball - I have a feeling it's a night he will always remember.
Let's get to your Friday Five, shall we?
iPhone Alarm Setting: If you use an iPhone as a wake-up alarm, you might want to check the "Attention Aware" settings to ensure that you don't accidentally sleep through the alarm. More here.
A Different Kind of Boys Weekend for Men: A few years ago, my husband Jonathon joined a men's retreat in Jackson Hole, WY, run by the guys at Cairn & Sky. He loved it and I could really see the positive impact it had on him in so many ways. He's since gone back for an alumni retreat as well. Five days away from the hustle and bustle of daily life can help guys find, or re-find, their purpose; to connect with new friends, who are willing to go a bit deeper while still having a lot of laughs; and experience the raw natural beauty of the mountains in a way that helps them find peace and clarity. There are still spaces available for their May 23-27, 2025, retreat. Check them out at the link above or just email them at scott@cairnandsky.com and jerry@cairnandsky.com.
Which Emails Do You Want? I'm always trying to make it easy for you to get more of the resources and tips you want from me and less of the things you do not find helpful. I recently updated the preference settings - which you can find below in this email where you see "manage your profile". For example, did you know I have occasional emails just for parents? Or monthly emails for those in management roles at work, and a free tips series just for business owners? Take a few seconds now to click the checkboxes for the emails you want and unclick the checkboxes for the ones you do not want. :)
Google Docs Bookmarks: Are you using the bookmarks feature in Google Docs? It's been available for years but it's not as well known of a feature as it should be. Here's a 95-second video to show you how it works. So helpful!
Family Easter Activities: If you have kiddos and also celebrate Easter, here's a set of Easter activities that might give you some ideas (the easter egg shell activity was one my kids loved in particular). You can even print the pages and put them in envelopes for a countdown to Easter to do with your family.
P.S. I'll see some of you in our Plan Your Week workshop later today. It's going to be a super-useful hour if you're feeling like life is coming at you too fast these days. Join us if you can! Replay is available for anyone who cannot make it live - I'll send that out later today to those who got a workshop ticket so that you can use it this weekend to plan next week if you like.
